Parking Lot #4: Summer / Fall 2008
Construction to begin at the end of the week of June 22, 2008. Parking Lot 4 will be closed entirely at this point and time until resurfacing is completed. Palmer Ct. will remain open for deliveries and business use, but parking will be prohibited. Due to the construction all business owners, employees and residents are asked to park in the 12 hour lot north of Locust on 2nd Street. On street parking will be in high demand by customers.

We will also hold weekly meetings for questions and concerns. The construction office for this project will be located across the street from Parking Lot #4 on Locust. View the plan images:

Proposed Sho-Deen Development Plans

ShoDeen Development are proposing a project on the south side of West Lincoln Highway between Walgreen’s on the east and Pearl Street on the west side. The uniqueness of this proposal is that the developer would like to bring a mixed use development to the City’s downtown. The project would entail commercial and residential uses that our Downtown Plan specifically calls for along Lincoln Highway.

Re:New DeKalb, Inc. Strategic Initiatives

Our Vision

A vital Downtown is essential to ensure economic prosperity and a high quality of life for all DeKalb area residents.

Our Mission

The Board of Directors and the staff of Re:New DeKalb will lead the development and implementation of strategic initiatives that stimulate, improve, and enhance the Downtown area, creating positive effects for the entire community.

Initial Strategic Initiatives

Our actions are driven by our vision; we identify four key initiatives for our first two years of operation:

Communicate the vision for Downtown DeKalb

Develop and implement a comprehensive communications strategy to “tell and sell our story” to targeted audiences locally, regionally, and nationally.

Engage in Strategic Partnerships with the City of DeKalb

Partner with the City of DeKalb in key projects to assign roles efficiently, address issues in redevelopment policy, assemble financial resources, and advocate for Downtown redevelopment.

Ensure visible results in the Downtown

Ensure that the long-term nature of Downtown redevelopment provides visible signs of progress on a regular basis. Re:New DeKalb is committed to using the Downtown DeKalb Revitalization Plan as the blueprint for moving forward.

Re:New DeKalb will also ensure that Downtown events continue to bring more people into the Downtown on a regular basis.
