A vital Downtown is essential to ensure economic prosperity and a high quality of life for all DeKalb area residents.

 

Our Mission

The Board of Directors and the staff of Re:New DeKalb will lead the development and implementation of strategic initiatives that stimulate, improve, and enhance the Downtown area, creating positive effects for the entire community.

 

Initial Strategic Initiatives

 

Our actions are driven by our vision; we identify six key initiatives:

 

Communicate the vision for Downtown DeKalb

Develop and implement a comprehensive communications strategy to “tell and sell our story” to targeted audiences locally, regionally, and nationally.

 

Engage in Strategic Partnerships with the City of DeKalb and Northern Illinois University

Partner with the City of DeKalb in key projects to assign roles efficiently, address issues in redevelopment policy, assemble financial resources, and advocate for Downtown redevelopment.

 

Ensure visible results in the Downtown

 

Ensure that the long-term nature of Downtown redevelopment provides visible signs of progress on a regular basis. Re:New DeKalb is committed to using the Downtown DeKalb Revitalization Plan as the blueprint for moving forward.

 

Re:New DeKalb will also ensure that Downtown events continue to bring more people into the Downtown on a regular basis.

 

Partner with downtown stake holders

Re:New DeKalb will partner with downtown stake holders to promote the unique businesses and activities of downtown DeKalb.

 

Sustain long term organizational Funding

Sustain long term organizational funding thru fundraising.  Re:New DeKalb will continue to develop and facilitate a long-term funding plan for downtown events and for its own operations.

 

Update Downtown Revitalization Plan

Re:New DeKalb will work with the City of DeKalb to update the current Downtown Revitalization Plan.
